1968 Camaro Heater Core

June 3, 2008

It might be time to replace the 68 Camaro heater core. Usually this is when the coolant is dripping from the car. There are some temporary solutions that can be employed to help out the 68 in the meantime. The methods are temporary, but successful for the short term as long as the instructions are followed. The Chevy Camaro manual for the 68 Camaro will help offer the instructions needed to replace the 69 Camaro heater core.

Temporary solutions to the dripping heater cores include pouring Alumaseal on the radiator. The Alumaseal should plug the leaks, assuming they reach the leaks in the first place. Use this only at times that a garage is not available for a couple of days and the car is needed. Another option is bypassing the heater core altogether by unplugging the hoses from the heater and plugging them to the water pump and manifold accordingly.

The heater core is tucked deep under the dashboard which means you need some clever maneuvering to get access to it. It is best to start with the right fender removal in order to get better access to the A/C compartment. This access allows the bolts to the blower and evaporator.

Once that is done the rest of the A/C unit can then be removed by working around or through the glove compartment. This allows access to the ductwork for the A/C as well. The trim and kick panel need to come off, then the heater core will be visible. Depending on the issues at work with the heater core a complete replacement of the A/C may be needed.

There will be linkages attached to the heater core. Remove those first. Removing them will give you free range to move the core around. Once it has been determined what part has actually failed on the 68 Camaro heater core, the parts needed for the job can be determined.

Most with 68 Camaro’s want to keep them in great condition, but also in authentic condition. To do this replacing the 68 Camaro heater core with vintage parts is important.

To replace the entire heater core rather than some of the hoses or bolts that could be leaking parts can be found for under $150 depending on the shop. These parts can be found online or in some garages. The older the car the more it usually costs to replace as they are not manufactured in mass any more.

It is important when replacing the 68 Camaro heater core that the garage or shop knows exactly what model the car is as well as the year. Cars have changed a lot meaning that the parts may vary from year to year without your realizing it.

Once the part has been obtained taking off the rest of the bolts will be easy. This helps to get the old heater core out and the new one installed. The new 68 Camaro heater core should last just as long as the old one.

Air Intake & Fuel Delivery

May 24, 2008

Good air intake system and fuel delivery devices are essential to have a high quality and good running engine. If these parts are malfunctioning there are two possible outcomes as a result. One, the engine isn’t going to run very well if it runs at all, and two if you are able to run the engine the way it is there’s a really good chance you are going to cause major damage to other parts of the engine.

It’s for this purpose that you should have the best possible air intake system and fuel delivery device on your vehicle’s engine.

The Air intake system is designed to regulate and circulate airflow that is needed throughout the engine to cool it down as it runs. If the engine uses a lot of horsepower or the RPM ratio is high the air intake system is designed to keep air flowing through it. As for the fuel delivery setup if you don’t have a good one or the part on your engine is malfunctioning there isn’t going to be enough fuel essentially traveling to your engine, and the vehicle could very well stall or not run at all. If the engine isn’t getting enough fuel the carburetor might even get damaged over time.

There are a variety of different air intake systems for the Chevy Camaro as well as fuel injection, fuel pumps, and intake manifolds. All of these parts have an association to the air intake systems and the fuel delivery as well.

When it comes to essentially replacing these parts it should be taken into consideration that different year models and makes of the Chevy Camaro do vary and that all of the parts might not work exactly on certain engines. It’s for this reason that an individual should have the year of the vehicle as well as the model ready when purchasing these parts. This way the bolts for the parts will line up properly when the parts are installed on the engine.

There are ultimately many different auto parts places that will essentially carry these parts. And in some situations an individual might just be modifying the engine too. If this is the case, then the right parts won’t be a problem. Finding the best place to purchase these parts is a matter of checking into different places. There are also Chevy Camaro web sites that offer information about the air intake systems and the fuel delivery that is used as well. With a wide variety of parts and the information about them as far as the description, what engines they work the best on, and the best performance they actually have are all on these web sites. In addition, the parts that the sites offer for purchasing are affordable and at a price individuals can afford. Remember if you are purchasing a part through an auction of some kind to be sure there is some kind of warranty on the part too. This helps in case something goes wrong and the part doesn’t work.
