With the average price of a new vehicle passing $25,000, it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing you have to spend a small fortune to drive anything worth writing home about. Unless you’re all about impressing your friends, neighbors and co-commuters with the size of your monthly payment, the entry end of the market is filled with a higher concentration of cool cars, trucks and SUVs than ever.

After putting together a list of all the vehicles available for less than $18,000, the editors of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com then picked the 10 coolest. Instead of reporting based on vehicles’ Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRPs), the list is based on each model’s New Car Blue Book value, the price buyers are typically paying in the market. Your actual payment will be determined by the down payment on the vehicle and the finance rate.

The Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000

• Toyota Yaris-With a long history as a best-seller in Europe, the Toyota Yaris migrates to the U.S. as the least expensive vehicle in the Toyota lineup. Sporting unusually cool styling, Toyota quality and a 34/city and 40/highway MPG rating, the Yaris’ value more than exceeds its under-$12,000 starting price.

• Scion xB-The xB has proven to us that, these days, it’s cool to be square. Not only does its slab-sided styling set it apart, but its boxy dimensions also mean this diminutive and fuel-efficient vehicle is a surprisingly commodious hauler of people and stuff.

• Dodge Caliber-Caliber changes the small-car game by offering a larger, more flexible interior filled with way-cool features like an air-conditioned storage bin to keep drinks cold, rear speakers that flip down to project outward from the open tailgate, a 110-volt outlet for powering small electronics and a self-charging flashlight.

• Kia Sportage-When buying your first SUV, bang-for-the-buck is a very cool thing to find. Pricing out the Kia Sportage is almost fun when you get to include a sunroof, a great stereo and a tire pressure monitor all for under $16,500.

• Chevrolet HHR-As cool as the 1940s-style exterior is, the Chevrolet HHR is equally cool for its efficient use of space and worthwhile features like remote start and the increasingly requisite iPod connector. It offers hauling ability like a compact SUV, yet it handles like a car.

• Ford Fusion-Size does matter, so getting a well-styled, contemporary midsize sedan with the roominess and comfort of the new Fusion is cool. Even better is the unexpected level of equipment for the price, including remote keyless entry, tilt steering wheel and cruise control.

• Nissan Frontier-Utility is in, and nothing’s more utilitarian than a pickup. The Frontier backs up its sharp styling with excellent ride and handling.

• Mazda3-Available as a hatchback or sedan, the Mazda3 is a deft one-two punch to the compact-car segment. We can’t decide which model we like better, but the combination of fine driving dynamics, upscale interior and arresting looks make this a “cool cars” list repeater.

• Honda Civic-You know how U2 were cool, then in the mid-90s they weren’t so cool, and now they’re as cool as ever? Well, the Civic has traveled a parallel path to regain its stature as arguably the finest economy car ever built–and cool once again.

• Scion tC-If you’re cool enough to appreciate it, the slick styling and fashionable features in the tC deliver Lexus-like technology in an affordable package. This year, the improved audio features stand out, including steering-wheel gauges and iPod connectivity.

Short-Term Car Rental: Why It Is Practical

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

A lot of people choose short-term car rental to catch up with today’s personal and business mobility demands. Rental companies offer several vehicle types – sedans, vans, group carriers, and even sports and luxury auto – for rent for hours a day to a couple or more days without any trouble to the renter.

Short-term car rental is perfect for businesses which have staff members visiting for a short-time, those who are attending training and conferences, or those who are in seasonal assignments. Firms also go for short-term car rental while expecting for new automobiles to come or while other vehicles are under repair service.

Big families who are off to a weekend getaway can also gain from short-term car rental deals. The rental deal is perfect for those whose family vehicle is not able to hold the entire clan for a journey to a member’s wedding or a reunion.

This arrangement doesn’t call for a termination fee when the auto is returned earlier than what is originally planned. Car rental firms don’t inflict the fee, and customers can also lease the automobile for as long as they want, as long as there won’t be a conflict with other clients’ renting time. You can also check with the auto rental firm for their on hand vehicles for short-term rent.

Leasing contracts are also ordinarily inclusive of gasoline and other maintenance services throughout the rental periods already. This way, you don’t have to worry about maintenance concerns and gas charges. All cars from rental firms are likewise totally covered with insurance, saving you on costs and administrative tasks when faced with insurance claims.

Include the number of days or hours you will be taking the car on your contract to make the most of your short-term car rental arrangement. You can have the car delivered to your location at the established start of rental if you ask for it. Don’t forget to ask for pertinent details before driving off, like how much are the extension rates should you want to avail it. Also, return the car on time and in scratch-free and dent-free condition to avoid paying additional costs.

And last but not the least, enjoy your trip!

Car Rental: Getting The Best Price Out Of Renting

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

While Singapore has placed a truly lofty price tag on its brand new for sale automobiles, it more than makes up on the available affordable car rental. Imagine driving away a Mercedes S Class for just $150 a day?! That is absolutely a steal.

Best car rental deals have the youngest of autos. Choose an auto leasing firm that has a fleet of fresh vehicles in various models and makes. The best ones ideally keep cars that are up to three years old only to assure their customers of the safety and convenience of their cars.

Great car rental companies should have great service. Should there be a regrettable incident wherein your leased auto breaks down around town, auto letting firms should be able to get to you in record time for repair. They should also offer you reasonable recompense for the lost rent hours while you are waiting for the replacement. Some firms can even give you free hours to make up for your hassle.

Of course, the best car renting deal also comes with the best price. Check out hourly prices and day deals and see where you can save best.

One helpful thing to do is to look for car rental companies online and reserve early. Early bookers are able to avail better prices and better car availability, unlike those who are in urgency and have no time to select carefully. Don’t forget, some rent contracts include gasoline, while some don’t. Without giving the car lease a careful consideration, you might result in renting an SUV gas guzzler when all you would have needed was a sedan for your city driving needs. You are probably to cough up more money for your petrol needs because of this.

As always, reading the car letting contract carefully and giving it careful consideration is the best way to lease before signing anything and hopping onto the auto. This will help you avoid needless and unwanted disagreeable surprises during your trip.

Sydney Car Hire Is The Way To Go

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Before you ever leave home you can shop and compare and reserve a rental car. As soon as you land at the Sydney airport you can stop at a Sydney car hire agency, pick up your car and start your holiday. The work can all be done online.

Australia has all the major car rental companies. You can choose one that you are familiar with or perhaps one that you have never heard of. Sometimes the one you haven’t heard of offers bargains or conveniences that might surprise you. You can shop and compare and find the company that has the car that will work best for you at the right time, place and price.

Some companies can provide a GPS or mobile phone with your car. Find out if they offer emergency roadside service in case the car breaks down. Ask how often people use their emergency service. The ideal company is one that offers emergency service that no one ever needs to use.

The airport isn’t the only place in Sydney where you can rent a car. If you have friends who want to pick you up at the airport and squeeze you into their tiny car and take you home with them for a good meal and a nice visit by all means let them. And then when you are ready to strike out on your own let them take you to a car rental agency convenient to them.

The important thing is you are going to want to have a car because there is so much to see in and around Sydney. You should probably decide in advance what kind of car to get based on what you plan to be doing. If you are going to explore the great outdoors, which New South Wales has in abundance, you might want to get a campervan or a four by four.

Be sure to get a vehicle big enough that you can take your friends along after they were nice enough to pick you up at the airport. They are probably the sort of people who never take time to see the beautiful and historic sites right outside their door. They’re like New Yorkers who would never see the Statue of Liberty if they didn’t have out-of-town visitors to guide.

Your friends might say regretfully that they would love to join you for a drive up the North Cost for some surfing, whale watching and wine tasting. Or maybe they would suggest the South Coast for a chance to explore some historic but little know townships and enjoy the unspoiled natural beauty of miles of beaches and coves and inlets. You can tell them that their tiny car is not a problem because you have rented something big and comfy enough for everyone.

Once everybody is on board you can set out to see the city. The Taronga Zoo, the Royal Botanical Garden and the iconic Opera House are just skimming the surface. But there is much to do beyond the city limits.

Sydney is surrounded by the Sydney Surrounds. That’s what they call the area that has some of the most amazing scenery in the world. There are forty national parks and reserves and a world famous wine region. You can even swim with the dolphins in Nelson Bay. All this is within two and a half hours of Sydney. And it’s all yours when you stop at a Sydney car hire agency.

Car hire & Car hire Brisbane provides free express pickup service from our many locations for your personal, business or holiday car hire.

A Brief History Of The Limo

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

It’s easy to picture yourself in a gorgeous stretch limo, arriving at your destination in a classy Cadillac or a super stretched Hummer. With all the colors of the rainbow available, those old boring black or white limousines are a thing of the past. Filled with televisions and full liquor bars and even a spa, there isn’t much that a limo can’t provide. Here’s a brief history of the limo to give you an idea of what limo service in Toronto can be like.

People have been using service that require an escort, like a limousine driver, for hundreds of years. From the charioteers of the Roman empire to the simple stage coach type wagons with a driver up front and the passengers in back, the limo has been around for a lot of human history. A driver or Wagon-master was actually the first type of chauffeur. Only the very rich could hire a Wagon-master to carry them from place to place.

An interesting early limousine was sort of a horse-drawn coach. This coach could carry a great number of passengers, similar to a stretch limosine today. Like the limousines at Toronto Limo, these stagecoaches would have side doors to enter and exit through. The driver was seated in front of or above the passengers, just like in today’s limousines. Often another driver, a relief driver or a guard, was seated next to the chauffeur. This was for the safety of the passengers.

One of the first automobile type limousines was built in 1902. It was built so that the driver or chauffeur actually sat outside of the covered area. At the same time, a horse-drawn carriage called a vis-a-vis, had a similar build. The passenger seats in the carriage faced each other and the driver sat above and in front of the passengers. The people riding in the back had access to a folding convertible top, while the driver was left uncovered.

The shape of the limo, including the kind you’ll see when renting a limo in Toronto, has evolved as cars have changed. Most limousines are really just an extended large car. There is a lot of room behind the driver, inside the passenger compartment. There are sometimes “jump seats’ facing toward the back of the car, behind the driver, which can be folded up. A normal limo can carry five to seven passengers in the back compartment, and a super stretch can carry upwards of twelve.

In a standard limousine, there is a barrier separating the driver from the rear compartment. This divider often slides up and down or side to side so that the passengers can speak to the driver. Sometimes there is also an intercom system between the two compartments. It’s interesting to note that the early stagecoaches also had a roof hatch to allow passengers to speak to the driver.

Limo rental in Toronto can include standard limousines that carry five to twelve people, or larger limos that can carry even more. There are some odd types of limos, including the exotic ones like the Bentley or BMW or Jaguar and the odd ones, like the Hummer and the Escalades. Regardless of the type of limo that you choose to rent while in Toronto, it is always fun to have a driver to take you around. Even the VW Beetle has been stretched into a limousine!

Toronto limos can be booked to take you home from a night on the town. You can use one to go to the airport, to save you the parking fees for your car. You can get your friends together and have a wonderful night of drinking and not worry a bit about driving while intoxicated. You can use a limo for any special event, like a wedding or prom or anniversary. With so many fun things to do, it’s easy to see why limos are so popular!

Call a Toronto limo service and impress your date. From front street to bloor street, travel in style with Toronto limos.

Identifying Reputable Providers Of Vehicle Extended Warranties

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

The consumer protection movement really took off in the 1960s and 1970s, when state governments (and the federal, too) began creating agencies charged with fighting scammers and ripoff artists operating in the marketplace. The public took to this new attitude wholeheartedly, and local and network news programs began hiring consumer advocates who would take on scofflaw firms on behalf of individuals and the public at large. The result is a very high awareness in American society of the rights of consumers and the proper operation of businesses.

The Internet has not changed, but amplified the situation. Today there is such an avalanche of information that it can be difficult to know what is true and what is not. This has made the job of consumer advocates even more involved, in government and media as well as in private firms doing “consumer reports” in print and on the Web. It is particularly important for consumers to take time and exercise caution with the purchases that loom largest in our lives, namely, houses (the most expensive thing most people will ever buy) and vehicles (the second-most costly for most folks).

How to tell good from bad

There are some general rules of both business and human behavior that come into play in all kinds of interactions, particularly economic ones. The basic common sense that you would use to determine truth or falsehood also apply when you are researching the companies behind the car warranties that you are being offered as you shop for your new ride. The first thing to remember, of course, is not to hurry. You do not just go out and buy the first car you like and add the first warranty you are offered. In fact, you have to leave enough time to research the dealers, the cars and the warranties that you may decide to buy.

When looking for a good car dealer, you start, of course, with referrals, and then branch out to newspaper ads, the Web and window-shopping. As you start making a list of possible purchases, note also the names of the dealers and start checking them out with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and online complaint sites. Then you need to check out each specific car you like, with Carfax or another reporting service. Finally, after you have sat down with a salesperson, you should request copies of any extended warranties that are on offer (and if you cannot get one, take your business elsewhere).

Then do it all again

When you have a complete list (dealers, specific cars, warranty provider names) you can return to your first step, research, and plug in what you’ve learned. When it comes to the dealer and the car, you use your own good sense as well as that of a mechanic friend or hireling. When it comes down to rating the extended warranty firms, that will take a bit more digging, but it is worth it. Remember, too, that it is absolutely in the interests of reputable warranty companies for you to do this. The car warranty industry, like any other, has had its share of miscreants, and is quite serious about driving the fly-by-night firms out of town (better yet, out of business).

What do you look for? For one thing, transparency. Just as you should beware of dealers who will not show you a Carfax report or give you a copy of an extended warranty, you should avoid warranty firms that will not answer questions on the phone or send you more information. In addition, you will check the company names with the BBB, consumer reporting sites, government oversight agencies and, of course, the handy-dandy Internet. All you have to do is enter the name of the company followed by the word complaints, and you should get all kinds of information, especially on the questionable firms that get the vast majority of consumer complaints.

Bottom line

Again, it really is in the best interests of reputable extended warranty firms for you to take the time to check them out. Do not let the salesperson at any dealership, new or used, tell you that you can only buy one particular warranty package. The fact is, you can buy your extended warranty from any company that you like. This will be a result of the research you do, as well as your own good sense and the solid advice of more experienced auto and insurance people. In fact, your insurance agent can also be a good resource for you, so run the facts and figures by your agent if they have experience in the area.

Bottom line? Do not just use your head. Use the heads and experience of all kinds of folks who know more about it than you do. Although it takes a little time, you will be glad you did when you save 30-40% over the dealer’s offer with a solid, dependable third-party warranty firm.

Whether you have a car, truck, SUV, or van we can find the best possible extended car warranty for your money. Do not let your limited warranty expire without shopping for continued coverage first. Visit 5starwarranty.com online today for more information.

Most people who drive a truck and work within this industry find that it most defiantly is. Even though job site driving is much, much slower than freeway driving, you still need to keep in mind how dangerous an insecure load can be.

When you are purchasing a securement device you have to be able to consider it’s specifications. The most important of which is how much of load a system can handle. Most products are very specific about the weight and nature of the load that they were designed for. Most company’s websites will list these specifications with the actual product descriptions.

A lot of great retailers who specialize in such products have the advantage of offering a very nice level of customer service. They typically have phone numbers that allow you to speak to live representatives that can assist your needs. These live representatives will typically be quite versed in the product lines that they carry and could be of a great help to anybody with questions.

By now, you should know a whole lot more about both truck hauling as well as load securement. Do not forget that there are many retailers out there and they can provide you with not only websites but live customer support. At the end of the day it is much better to invest your hard earned money into a harnessing system that you know will fit your specifications.

Ways To Make Your Car Rental Experience More Enjoyable

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

There are a lot of reasons to rent a vehicle. For whatever reason you decide to get a car rental, there are a wide range of things that you can do to save money and have a better experience. Everyone wants to save money and these some tips to doing that.

Of course, the best way to maximize your experience is to feel like you have saved money and got the best possible deal. There are some key things that you can do to achieve this. One of the best things you can do to save money is to make your reservations online. Online rates are oftentimes substantially lower than making a reservation over the phone or at the counter of the rental station.

Additionally, start your reservation during a weekday. By doing this, you can get a weekday rate instead of a weekend rate, which is typically much higher. Also, the longer you rent the vehicle, the cheaper the daily rate will usually be. Sometimes, the overall price of a rental car can be a cheaper to rent for a full week rather than four or five days.

Make sure you get the size that you need. Sure, it is nice to have a fancy luxury car, but do you really need it. Not only will getting an economy or standard size be much cheaper, but it will save you considerably in gas. Getting the right size is especially important during a truck rental. Renting a truck that is too small will cost you higher amounts of money for gas and mileage than getting one that is too big. However, getting one that is too big wastes money, so try to guesstimate the ideal truck size for your needs.

Try to avoid one way trips if you can. Returning a rental car to a car rental station other than the one you rented from usually amounts to many excessive fees and charges. You will have to determine if those fees are worth it for your trip. Also, wherever you return the car, make sure you fill the gas tank within a few miles or kilometers of the return station. Most car rental companies have very high fill up rates that can easily be avoided.

Before you leave with the car, make sure you inspect the car for damage and a full gas tank. Do not let rental companies charge you for damage that you did not do to a vehicle because it was something not recorded when you picked it up. On the same note, do not leave if the fuel tank is not full because you will have to pay to have it filled with gas you did not use upon its return.

Completely review your rental contract before leaving. Some companies have mileage limitations or other limits to where you can or cannot drive. Be familiar with everything in the contract. If you need extra mileage, you may be able to purchase mileage for a lower rate than if you had returned it with excessive mileage.

On a last note, make sure you get the insurance coverage that you need on your care rental or truck rental. Some personal insurance companies cover rental cars. You may have higher deductibles or lower coverage rates on them. All car rental places offer their own insurance which often requires no deductible or hassles on your part in the event of an accident.

Regardless of your reasoning for getting a car rental, there are things you can do to have a much more pleasurable experience. Whether it be saving money or getting the services you require, these are some tips of advice that may help you.

Canadian owned and operated rental truck company offers a wide variety of vehicle choices for all your rental car and truck rental requirements with locations from coast to coast.
