My first Impala SS

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

One day I was walking driving home from work when I saw a 1996 black Impala SS race right by me. The car looked stunning and I knew I had to own one.

After a few months I finally managed to scrape enough money together to get my own sporty Impala SS. The color is Dark Green with Gray Metallica all over it and it only has about 69k miles on it. The dealership I bought it from was about 80 miles away but boy was the trip worth it.

The Impala SS has over 200 HP, so I didn’t really need to modify it. The only changes I made to it was a cold air induction upgrade. This allows me to easily over take cars on the free way. One time I ended up overtaking a third generation vette which tried to pull away.

The car is amazing to have, every time I open the door and step in for a drive I get this awesome feeling. The auto body of the Impala is also no joke, it really gets my adrenaline pumping because it packs some serious horsepower.

I can talk endlessly about the amount of pull the Impala SS has. This is a sports car, so it does feature a powerful engine. I can also talk endlessly about the design of the car, the auto body work is amazing. Lastly I can talk endlessly about the ride.

I never actual hear someone talking about what the hate about their ride. Yes I love the Impala and yes I would recommend for you to buy it but it does have some negatives and that is what this review is about.

If the amount of horsepower is still not enough for you, you can get 26 more from K&N performance for a price of $150. To end this review one needs to understand that all cars have faults. There is not a single car every produced that didn’t have a problem here or there.

It is really difficult to name one make and model that comes problem free. Cars have problems with their radiators, engines, pumps and wires. One thing for sure is that these problems are corrected over the years.

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

GMC’s response to the Cadillac and Chevrolet nameplates plus General Motors SUVs is the 2005 GMC Denali. Among GMC’s car versions, Denali is the most luxurious. It is undoubtedly full sized but is slightly smaller compared to the largest SUV. This vehicle is perfect for family outings especially with a boat or jet-ski in tow.

The Denali can pack up to nine passengers. It has a three row seating arrangement where the third row can be dismantled or folded up to suit the owners’ needs. The bucket seats which are located in the middle or the second row are fully adjustable one by one to suit the individual needs of the passenger. For comparison purposes, Suburban and Expedition are quite longer than the Denali and the latter is easier to maneuver in your garage.

The Denali possesses a potent 325 horsepower V8 engine and a torque of 370 lbs/foot. The negative aspect of such a powerful machine is its gas consumption. You can only get 12 miles per gas inside the city limits and 16 miles per gas when on the super highways. However, this can’t be an issue today with oil prices at an all time low.

Denali has automatic transmission, all-wheel drive without low range gearing and an advance braking system that works well. You are guaranteed a nice ride even on gravel, rugged-two tracks, mud and snow. The vehicle is also equipped with Quadrasteer. This reduces the turning circle at muted speeds. It is also intended to improve stability when towing at higher speeds.

With the tire-pressure monitor and sophisticated Hydroboost brakes and GM’s Stabilitrak antiskid system you are assured of your safety in the car. Moreover, for front and back controls the vehicle has a power-adjustable pedal and a multi-zone automatic climate system. The audio or navigation system that has a control touch screen is an optional feature.

The Denali also boasts of a Bose nine-speaker stereo with subwoofer and an external antenna for improved radio reception.

The 2005 GMC Denali is by far one of the coolest vehicles to modify. You can get a custom grill, custom wheels even custom doors! It is a unique and desirable vehicle offering power, luxury and prestige.

How To Spraypaint Your Car – Paint Primers and Paint System

Monday, June 29th, 2009

Novices that’re entering into painting a car for the first time, do not realize that there are various primers and paint systems available. There’re selections that’ve to be made as to which ones to go with. It must also be realized that a few of these systems could be chemically volatile, and must be used with extraordinary caution. That doesnt mean you should be dubious about utilising them, it signifies that you must know what you are doing and implement the right precautions.

There’re the air dry kind of cellulose systems for repair, then there’re 2 pack products. These are much more durable and professional but are the ones that demand caution.

For the primers theres the etching primer. This’s a primer base to which a form of acid is added. You could buy several one step primers that also come in aerosol form but they dont do quite the similar high quality job that the commercial acid based ones do. Be certain to follow the instructions exactly as the product says.

Other type of primer you might hear about or even need is the wash primers. These dont have any fillers and are applied in 1 wet coat over any of the areas displaying the bare metal. The etch primer fillers are abit different because they have a couple of basic filling qualities. These are applied in two – three wet coats, allowing 10-20 mins between each application.

A heavier kind of primer fillers or surfacers are available that contain filling products. Nearly all the sprayable products are designed for filling tiny surfaces and scratches not dents, holes our deep scratches.

Air dry is more often your primary cellulose type products. They dry fast but they dont have the same ability to fill the area. You could likewise run the risk of it shrinking once it dries.

You would require to determine if youre satisfied working with the light aerosol fillers or if you want to go with the more extreme two pack primer fillers. Remember these have to be blended exactly according to directions, and utilized as instructed. There are health risks that you must safe guard against as well. In the long run they do give a much superior finish, but you have to decide does the job you’re doing need this. If not then stay with the aerosol products. Then again, if you are not familiar at all with primers, then maybe you can get some expert help or advise on the matter.

Be it which type you decide to go with , they all have the number of applications that will be needed. Then they would instruct you on what your future steps are after drying for instance how many coats are needed and how much sanding is required.

There are new products coming out on the market constantly. It is always a great idea to check with your supplier as to what they recommend. They are normally well versed in the products they carry and could give you several really good advice.

Car Insurance Advice for Young Drivers

Monday, June 29th, 2009

One of the biggest days in any teen’s life is the day they get their driver’s license. But with that tiny piece of plastic arrive huge responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is auto insurance. Every newly licensed driver must arrange for adequate auto coverage.

But car insurance for teen drivers can be very expensive. Teen drivers are considered high risk drivers due to their inexperience, which means they can expect to pay high rates for their insurance premiums. Don?t let that stop you from earning your driver?s license, though. With careful planning, teen drivers can find ways to save money on car insurance.

The first thing a teen driver needs to do is to get several quotes. These quotes should come from licensed insurance providers. Different companies define teenage risk in different ways, which means one company may charge you a lot while another company may only charge you a little. There is a lot of competition in the insurance trade, and an insurer who knows you are talking to a competitor, might, just might, be willing and able to offer you a lower premium. But you have to ask, and you have to be willing to negotiate. Fortunately, the Internet makes doing insurance research and shopping for premiums a lot easier than it used to be.

If you haven?t done so already, look into taking a basic or defensive driving course. These courses show insurance providers that you are serious about safety behind the wheel, and this makes insurance providers more likely to lower your risk level when assessing your driving record for an insurance premium. Talk to a qualified insurance provider about what courses are available and what courses are eligible for an insurance discount.

Ask your agent if your company offers discounts to good students or students belonging to a club or organization. See if they extend a discount if your parents belong to a club or organization. Inquire about other possible discounts. This is where it’s helpful to check on the net before you see your agent.

Another way to get a discount on your auto premiums is bundling. If your parents insure their lives or home, sometimes the insurance company will bundle all your policies and give you a great price break. This discount may apply not just to your policy, but to the home and life policies, too. And see whether the insurance company offers lower premiums to households that have multiple drivers or own multiple cars. This is another good way to lower insurance costs.

If you are a newly licensed teen driver or will earn your driver?s license soon, contact a qualified insurance provider. They can answer whatever questions you may have about car insurance, examine your specific situation closely and make insurance recommendations so that you are properly insured and protected behind the wheel. It will take some time, effort and research, but you could end up saving a lot of money on your insurance premiums, which makes the investment worth it.

Truck Bed Covers Are Stylish

Monday, June 29th, 2009

In most cases, people buy trucks to pull loads with trailers or to load things into the bed. When items are carried on the bed of a truck there are damages that can happen if the truck is not shielded properly. Rain is the main cause for rust in the bed of a truck after the paint has been removed because of scratches and deep scrapes. Buying truck bed covers will make the bed of a truck last longer.

First, the affordable kind of truck bed covers. These two types consist of either a plastic molded one piece that lies flat against the wheel wells and on the bed. The other is nothing more than a piece of thick rubber that is cut according to the size of the truck bed. Either of these two can stay inside the bed permanently without removing periodically. If these two types are not removed every now and then water will collect underneath and cause rust.

One of the most common stylish truck bed covers is called a truck cap. Not only does a truck cap cover the entire bed, but when installed correctly a truck cap will keep all contents dry. These caps usually have a window or two, and match the color of the truck.

One more form of material that can be used as a truck bed cover, is called a tarp. A tarp style cover has strips that run from side to side, and then there are snaps used to hold the tarp in place. Tarps will keep the contents of the truck dry until the tarp is wound up, and then there are puddles.

Tanaeu covers provide the best protection against weather and thieves. These types of covers give the truck a solid back end look, because they are painted the same color of the truck and are made of fiberglass material. There is usually hydraulics that compensates the weight and makes opening and closing extremely easy. There is also a locking mechanism that locks the cover to the tailgate.

No matter which truck bed cover you choose, the truck bed will be protected. Which degree of protection will be up to how much your finances allow. Purchasing of a new truck will include a truck bed cover as an extra option, and will be rather expensive no matter what type is picked.

Paintless Dent Removal Made Easy – Car Bodywork Help

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

In the fine art of paintless dent removal, it is much tricky and complicated that you would think it is. Not only does it require good training skills, it also requires the special touch.

The tools used for this procedure are long and delicate, to allow access to difficult to reach places. One wrong move can cause a wrinkle in the surface, making a highpoint that is visible when looking at the smoothness of the surface.

Wrinkled metal is one of the most difficult, if not, almost impossible repairs to do, it all depends on the force of the slip. Most often you get one chance only in paintless dent removal, it is a finesse job that requires great skill, combined with a lot of knowledge and a gentle touch.

Gaining Access When doing paintless dent removal, the first thing that has to be done is to gain access, whether it is the hood, roof, door, trunk, or quarter panel. Once access is gained, you have to select the right tool, not forgetting the length, tip size and diameter when you are selecting that tool.

Starting the Repair Once you have started the repair, delicate, and precise movements are required, many times over, it?s the repetition that works the area. The metal can?t be pushed, it has to be “coaxed” back into its original position, and ?coaxed” is the right word being you can only remove small amounts of metal at a time. There are four major types of damage, and different ways to repair each of them. The standard dent is reversed by a massaging action at the center. For a crease, you use work from left to right, while gently applying. If you start with the smallest dent you can repair double rings can be repaired by starting.

The best way to start with is the smaller area then move to the larger one. Once you have repaired about 90 % of the damage, then you need to work on the distortion evident in the larger dent.

The trick of doing the actual repair is to get the light right on the painted side of the surface. You have already got your tool in place from the other side and now you are ready to get into the finer work.

You need to find the precision point of the tip of the tool. To do this shining the light in the same direction stand perpendicular to the crease. Don’t work at an angle as the surface will look distorted. Looking for the tool tip is like stretching a piece of foil and running your fingernail across it from the other side. When you are repairing the surface, you can see the tool tip you gently move it back and forth, much like the fingernail example. Start at the center, and apply pressure steadily, in finite strokes. The larger the dent, the less pressure you need.

Completing The Job. If you did have to make a hole to gain entry, apply sealant as a paint protector and continue to mend the hole.
