67 Camaros - Outstanding Muscle Cars

September 4, 2008

by Dan Chan

The 1967 Camaro is one of the greatest muscle cars ever designed. I consider it a work of art, an outstanding example of automobile engineering, and as American as apple pie! It set a standard that cars of today can’t match.

The Camaro is like a good looking woman, it is shaped just right. The long hood and short deck styling makes the car seem like it is moving fast even when the car is sitting still. You can almost imagine it tearing down the road even when at rest. Muscle car power is at its maximum.

In 1966, Chevrolet countered the Ford Mustang with its version of its own muscle car. In the month of September 1966, the 67 Camaro was released to the world. The new “pony car” was a phenomenal hit. Even now, Camaros are still in production.

When it was introduced, the 67 Camaro was the only first generation Camaro to not have the RPO-Z28 Special Performance Package and the 396-cid displacement engine for SS models. Other distinquishing features include: lack of side marker lights, no front quarter windows, VIN tag mounted in door hinge pillar, center console, and had side-vent windows.

Camaros have held their own in value over the years, and are very popular with classic car collectors. Even in poor condition, a 67 Camaro is often priced at about $8,000. In fact, a Z28 in excellent condition is bringing close to $60,000 today. It is a classic car that really holds its value.

The 1967 Camaro was built on brand new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform. The body was available as a 2-door, coupe, 2 2 seating, or a convertible.

The 67 Camaros came factory in a choice of the inline-6 and the 302, 350, 396 engines or the powerful 396 V8. Let me tell you, the 396 motor can burn tires like nobody’s business. It is a big boy’s toy, thats for sure. In the hands of teenage boy, it will peel off 15 foot black rubber marks regularly from sitting still. It is a hoss.

The 67 Camaro is a treat to drive. It not only looks like a real man’s car, but it is also a great ride. With great handling and performance, this classic muscle car is a thrill to own. If you decide to buy one, you will be glad you did.

Chevy Camaro Parts Are Easy To Find

September 3, 2008

by Rex Simpleton

Chevy Camaro is known to be a very popular sports car and, along with Corvette, it was the car that surpassed the twenty first century. Although these cars are rather old, they still make a good option nowadays and manage to impress people with their wonderful performance. Chevy Camaro, with its great engine horsepower, is still a great option for anyone.

Chevy Camaro parts are easy to actually find. And, in some situations if you are actually looking for parts for older year models of the Chevy Camaro these can be found too. Sometimes through automotive dealerships, and in other cases a salvage yard is effective in finding the needed parts.

The parts from the same years may not be always the same as the ones you need so you need to be careful because they might not work on different engines.

It happens that many mechanics modify the Chevy Camaro engines; however, the concept of a good engine remains because nobody likes a car without a good engine.

Only when using the original parts which are especially designed for Chevy Camaro, people will be able to experience the quality and unique feeling that represents this car. The original parts are also easier to install because the car doesn’t have computers and other electric facilities found on new cars.

Most mechanics agree that there is no difference between used and new car parts as long as used parts are in good condition. Of course, this also depends on what parts we are talking about because not all parts are safe to be replaced with used ones.

The parts that can be changed if they are in good condition are: quarter panels, hoods, bumpers and even engine parts like fuel pumps, water pump or radiators. Those can be safely replaced with used parts as long as those parts are approved by the mechanics.

However, people shouldn’t try to replace air intake systems or manifolds with used parts. It is best to use new parts for such areas and you will surely be able to find new parts for this car although it looks a little bit difficult.
